Evaluation of Teacher Websites
Education.com is a free resource for Pre-K through 5th grade teachers. It provides printable worksheets, online games, lesson plans, and allows you to track students’ progress, by generating student reports. They provide most of their resources for free but you could gain unlimited access to all content and be able to have students utilize the resources for a membership fee. They range in $11.99/month, $60.00/year or $160/lifetime access. With a membership you can access the site ad-free and gain access to more than 30.00 printable and digital recourses, guided lessons in math, reading, and writing, and many teaching tools for creating worksheets and assessments.
Education.com is a resource I use often. When teachers work in districts that do not always provide curriculum, this website helps allow teachers to make and find reliable and affordable resources to use in the classroom. As a new teacher you can feel lost, this website has helped me by giving me lessons on topics I am unfamiliar teaching. It is also helpful because you can have student logins and assign them activities specific to their needs.
ESGI is an online assessment software that can be used for Special Education, ELL, RTI, and Pre-K-2nd grade students. It is a platform for conduction one-on-one assessments for emergent and non-readers. ESGI comes with preloaded assessments but also allows you to create your own. ESGI will take your student’s data and export it to charts, graphs, and reports. These reports can be used for educators or be sent home to parents. ESGI can be purchased for a school, district, or individual. They allow users a free 60 day trial.
ESGI saves teachers hundreds of hours on assessing and sorting and analyzing data. In a PreK-1st grade classroom teachers are required to do lots of one-on-one assessments because most of their students are non-readers or emerging readers. This software cuts down the time it takes to give an assessment. Even more importantly, it will create graphs and reports showing your individual student growth, as well as class data. I can generate individual or multiple reports with a few simple clicks. This allows classroom teachers more time to teach, by cutting down our time assessing.
BrainPop Jr. was created for grades K-3. It provides videos, activities, games, and lessons for teachers and students to use in all areas of curriculum. BrainPop Jr. can be used in health, math, reading, writing, social studies, science, arts, and technology. It has videos about complex topics but breaks it down to the level of a primary student. BrainPop Jr. can be provided by a specific campus or district. If it is not, a teacher can purchase a membership for $175.
BrainPop Jr. is very useful to help teachers introduce unfamiliar topics or refresh a student’s memory about a previously learned concept. Teachers can use the videos and lessons to teach and engage students. Students can then practice through the games and activities provided.
